10. prepare your computer

use recommended system

D2L course sites will function best if you use a computer with the following features. You may be able to access D2L sites with computers that do not meet these minimum specifications, but some problems may occur, such as connection difficulties, browser freezing, etc.

Hardware:

Windows:

• Personal IBM compatible computer with a Pentium II 200 or higher processor
  (Pentium III 500mhz or higher recommended)
• 128 MB of RAM (256 MB recommended)
• 10 GB free space on hard drive
• Keyboard and mouse pointing device
• 28.8 kbps modem or faster (56 kbps recommended)
• Access to the Internet through an Internet Service Provider and e-mail (a monthly fee is usually required)
• CD ROM drive

Apple Macintosh: Power PC machine with at least 32 megabytes of memory, a minimum 2 gigabyte hard drive, and a 56k V.90 modem or ethernet connection

Operating System:

Windows: Microsoft Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP Professional edition 2003

Apple Macintosh: System 7.5 or better

Web Browser:

Windows and Apple Macintosh: Netscape 4.75

D2L does not currently support the latest version of Netscape Communicator (6.0). You can use Internet Explorer 4.0 - 5.0 but you may encounter some problems. D2L does not support the latest version of Internet Explorer (5.5).
