PROFESSIONAL INVOLVEMENT:
I am a member of ACCESS, which is an organization for all Child Development Instructors who teach at Technical or Community Colleges in the MnSCU system.
I am also a member of the Child Care Resource & Referal grant committee, Success by 6, and MN Valley Association of Early Childhood Educators
CAREER BACKGROUND:
My experience includes working with children birth through age twelve years of age in a variety of settings. For six years I operated a family group daycare business. I provided a nurturing, stimulating environment for the children in my care, so they could have the opportunity to grow and learn. After returning to college to obtain my Elementary Education degree, I worked with children in elementary schools for 5 ½ years. My experience in the school setting includes teaching summer programs, being a substitute teacher, a first grade-reading teacher, and the Student Support Center Supervisor. Since 1998 I have been fortunate to be in a position to share my knowledge with college students in the Child Development Careers Program as an instructor at South Central College in N. Mankato, MN.
My education, my three children, and working in various settings have helped me achieve a better understanding of different ages and stages children go through as they develop. I value early education, families, and meeting children's needs.
